The TDC continues to build momentum since it was awarded receiver of the former Yankee Pedlar Inn. Through a developer procurement process a prospective developer has been vetted. The name and details will be disclosed upon successful negotiations. The developer is well-known in Connecticut and has several similar projects to its credit. Prior to finalizing any agreements, the TDC is carrying out supplemental environmental investigations primarily involving the interior of the building, using a DECD Brownfields Assessment grant awarded earlier in the year. The TDC has also applied for a DECD remediation grant to prepare the building for redevelopment. Securing funds for this work is imperative to the project moving forward. The environmental investigations will be completed in June, and DECD will also reveal the awards for remediation grants at the same time. If the TDC is awarded a grant, the remediation work is expected to be completed by early Fall.
